for them to black out the whole store means there must be something big going on. Someone posted on a different story that the CPW people are having a meeting tmoz and that they will be informing staff about it on tues afternoon. I think we may see the iphone in CPW on wed and in Apple stores from tmoz.

Anyone going down tmoz afternoon to wait till it opens in the chance of being one of the first with an iphone??

Hence my rationale that O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores will get it at the weekend - they can’t keep a secret (Apple can and they’re very good at it).

Anyone care to call some Apple stores on Monday and ask what their opening hours will be on Tuesday….?

I would LOOOVEEEE for the iPhone to be released this week but I seriously doubt it. There are MANY O2 and CarPhone stores in the UK and at least 10 Apple stores. And people that are involved with these stores must have been informed ahead of the release so that they are prepared for the release. And people that work at these stores are not trained to keep their mouth shut they are people that would be more than happy to brag and tell people about something like this. The only way that I can think of that is kind of safe is if only the managers of these stores have been informed and that they were asked by Apple not to tell anyone. But I hope that I am wrong because I really want the phone.

Also has anyone heard if anyone will be reporting live from the even at all? Like for the US announcments engadget and others report live but was wondering if anyone had heard if anyone will be for the UK event.

I think it will be mid october when it is released or sooner would be better. Hopefully it won’t be November I dont think I can wait much longer.

Don’t think we’ll see a 16Gb version … Apple wouldn’t launch a new product that wasn’t available in US - especially given furor over iPhone pricing - Ithink they’ll save that for the 3G version and price at $499 !!

Normally when apple announce a product it goes on sale very soon after, by releasing the iphone next week means they can then concentrate on the launch of leopard. i cant see any reason why it wouldnt be ready to go now, they’ve had more than enough time.
